It all began in 2012, when we opened Raketa Rakia Bar. Alongside rakia and salads, we decided to serve something else – exhibitions.
The first was rally posters. Then came SOCMUS, with their collection of children’s books from socialism – and so we started a tradition that has gone hand in hand with appetizers more than 30 times since.
We’ve hosted exhibitions for the Olympics, New Year, International Women’s Day, Children’s Day, Cosmonautics Day, even Driver’s Day. We’ve celebrated our own anniversaries, and in 2015 we marked the launch of our sibling in the galaxy – cocktail bar Sputnik.
Our “archival cosmonaut” is photographer and collector Nikola Mihov – co-founder of SOCMUS, always bringing the most fascinating finds. Thanks to him, we’ve showcased posters by Dimitar Tasev and Lyudmil Chehlarov, photos from the Imaginary Archive, and personal collections of Milan Hristov and Bedros Azinyan.
We’ve also had delicious collaborations – with researcher Albena Shkodrova (Socialist Gourmet) and with Mondelez Bulgaria for a sweet exhibition celebrating 100 years of the chocolate factory in Svoge.
